Volunteering with Carringbush

Carringbush has a vibrant and professional volunteering program with volunteers currently active in the following roles:

Classroom Volunteers

Volunteers assist students to improve their English language and literacy skills in a range of English as an Additional Language (EAL)classes.

Guided by the EAL teacher, classroom volunteers support small groups, or work with individual students.

Adult Literacy Tutors

The Carringbush Adult Literacy program supports adults who want to improve their literacy skills.  Adult Literacy students come with varying needs, for example: help with the literacy demands of the workplace, study support for vocational courses, or simply basic reading and writing skills which they have missed due to learning difficulties or interrupted schooling.  Adult Literacy tutors are trained and supported by the Adult Literacy Coordinator, Sarah Deasey.

Children’s Play and Learning Support Volunteers

Children’s Play and Learning Support Volunteers assist young children from diverse backgrounds to develop a broad range of skills with a focus on early literacy, through play, craft, story-telling, songs and games.

Carringbush Volunteers receive training, induction and ongoing support from our Volunteer Coordinator.
