Just Bites Hospitality and Barista Training Program

An on-the-job training program for CALD adults that provides accredited Safe Food Handling and Barista training, and 12 months paid employment at the Just Bites kiosk with industry mentoring, and language, literacy and numeracy support. This program is run at the Just Bites kiosk located in the Neighbourhood Justice Centre, in partnership with Belgium Avenue Neighbourhood House.

Pre-Accredited (Learn Local)

Financial Literacy and Wellbeing for Women

  • This course aims to build women’s financial literacy and wellbeing, awareness of their rights, access to support services to assist them, and skills and confidence to make informed decisions regarding their spending, budgeting and savings. The program includes guest speakers from a range of partner services. The course is for appropriate for CALD women who want to improve their financial wellbeing or those who may be vulnerable to financial abuse, victim/survivors of family violence or targeted by inappropriate financial services.

Yarra Women Behind the Wheel

  • Carringbush partners in with MiCare, The Neighbourhood Justice Centre and Financial counsellors, Victoria Police and Victoria Legal Aid to provide a holistic 6 week course supporting CALD women to progress from their learners drivers licence to their probationary drivers license.

African Women’s Group 

  • Carringbush leads the African Women’s Group with a CALD resident of Yarra. MiCare and City of Yarra Family, Youth and Children’s Services partner in to support the monthly meeting delivery. The group meets monthly to attend workshops, information sessions or activities that have been decided by the group.
