Carringbush has been delivering high quality English as an Additional Language programs in Yarra since 1984. Programs include State and Federal Government foundation programs, as well as specialised pre-accredited classes.

Accredited English Courses

 

Carringbush delivers Accredited English language courses.

The English language courses are funded through:

  • Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) funded by Commonwealth Department of Home Affairs

  • Skills First Program funded by Victorian Department of Education and Training

  • Fee for service
 

Classes range from pre-Certificate I to Certificate III and are delivered from a number of locations in Richmond and Collingwood.

Carringbush delivers a number of pre-accredited Learn Local programs which develop students’ language and literacy skills and enhance their understanding of pathways to employment in Australia.

Adult Literacy Programs

Free, individualised tutoring is offered for adults who want to improve their reading, writing, digital skills and learning skills. Content is individualised and can range from basic skills for personal goals, up to higher level support for employment, vocational training and higher education.  At the same time, learners build their confidence, motivation and independent learning skills.    
 
Programs are delivered at our site in Richmond and at various community agencies in Collingwood. 

nLearn Local Program Fees: 

Participants who are eligible for Learn Local funding are funded by the Victorian government. The government contribution is $9.35 per hour. This hourly contribution is multiplied by the number of hours to determine the total contribution paid by the government. 

Full fees are charged for non-eligible students at $50.00 per program. 

Eligibility

Victorian adults are eligible for Learn Local funding if they are: 

  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or  
  • a holder of an Australian permanent visa, or 
  • an Asylum seeker who meets the following criteria: 
  • holds any humanitarian, protection of refugee visa in Australia; or 
  • has applied for a humanitarian, protection or refugee visa and holds a bridging visa for this purpose; or 
  • has made an application under s.417 or s.48b of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth) which is yet to be determined and hold a bridging visa. 

Individuals must have a visa with study rights 

Concession 

Participants and a dependent spouse, are eligible for a concession if they hold one of the following current cards: 

  • Health Care Card issued by the Commonwealth  
  • Pensioner Concession Card  
  • Veteran’s Gold Card 

 

Indigenous participants are exempt from paying tuition fees for Learn Local (ACFE) funded pre-accredited programs.
